Barnabas Project Joins R.H.Y.M.E. Training
Last fall, on November 8, 2025, the Barnabas Fellows participated in R.H.Y.M.E.'s Semi-Annual Teaching Artist Training, an immersive professional development experience focused on the art of rap, creative expression, and youth mentorship through hip-hop culture.
During the training, Fellows learned how to connect creativity, mentorship, and service learning to effectively engage and inspire young people in inner-city schools. Through hands-on workshops, discussions and collaborative learning, they gained practical tools for using hip-hop as a vehicle for education, leadership development, and community impact.
As R.H.Y.M.E. Director Randy Mason often says, the organization's mission is to equip youth with both mic skills and life skills through the art of hip-hop. This training reflected that mission by helping Fellows understand how artistic expression can foster communication, confidence, critical thinking, and personal growth.
The experience further equipped the Barnabas Fellows to serve as mentors and role models, empowering them to make a meaningful impact in the lives of students. Like Barnabas, known for encouraging and investing in others, the Fellows continue to develop the skills and heart needed to uplift the next generation through creativity, mentorship, and service.
